Xanthan gum is made when bacteria ferments in a liquid made of glucose, sucrose or lactose. It is then dried and turned into a fine powder, which can then be added to foods to act as a binding agent. As we do not use any gluten or grain in our recipes, we need something to help bind our dough together. Xanthan gum is an ingredient that we use as an alternative binder, which helps our tortilla and chip ingredients combine together well.
We use a minimal amount of xanthan in our recipes and continue to research and develop new innovative ways to formulate our products without the need for gums at all.
Cassava starch is an extracted starch from the whole cassava root. Cassava is a carbohydrate-rich root vegetable that is also gluten and grain free. This starch can be used as a thickening and binding agent in gluten free products.
Cassava starch is generally safe for most people on a gut friendly diet which is why our chips and tortillas use a small amount to give them their form.
We believe coconut oil to be one of the healthiest oils to cook with, due to its medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which are shown to have positive health benefits. Coconut oil is also more resistant to oxidation at high temperatures and is therefore the best option for frying our tortilla chips!
Coconut flour is one of our hero ingredients for so many reasons! It's naturally grain and gluten free and has a very high fiber content, making it easy for most people to digest.
We also love it because of its low impact on the environment. Coconuts require less water to cultivate than other alternative or conventional flours, and are suitable for organic farming.
Yes. Our tortillas are perishable and should be placed in the refrigerator or freezer immediately upon receipt. Our tortillas are good for about 6 months if placed in the freezer, and around 2-3 weeks in the refrigerator. If you receive an order without cold packs, don't panic! Our tortillas can stay fresh at room temperature for a few days, just place them in the refrigerator or freezer immediately after receiving your package.
Our tortillas are printed with a Julian Date. Typically found near the barcode, the Julian Date shows the day of the year that the tortillas were produced. For example, 001/21 would indicate that your tortillas were produced on January 1st, 2021. If kept frozen, our tortillas are good for up to six months. If refrigerated, our tortillas are good for three weeks from the time they are placed in the fridge.
Since our tortillas do not contain and gluten, we recommend lightly warming them before enjoying as this will help them be a bit more flexible. Try heating in a microwave for 10-12 seconds, or lightly brushing with oil and warming on a skillet for 10-15 seconds on each side. You can also brush our large wraps with a bit of water before microwaving for 10-12 seconds. Please keep in mind that since our tortillas are made from coconut flour, they can dry out quickly if overheated.

Our fulfillment center typically ships orders within 2-3 business days of purchase. Because our tortillas are perishable, we usually ship all tortilla orders Monday-Wednesday. By shipping on those days, we avoid adding extra time during transit on the weekend. Chip orders typically ship Monday-Thursday/Friday.
Regardless of which day of the week you purchase, if you ordered chips and tortillas in the same order, your tortillas will ship separately from your chips (Monday-Wednesday). Our tortillas are shipped via FedEx 2-Day and our chips are shipped UPS Ground. By shipping separately, your tortillas will arrive in good standing, as UPS Ground takes a day or two longer in transit.
We are so excited to roll out the first-to-market grain free, vegan & paleo, frozen burrito! Available in two flavors and exclusively at Sprouts Farmers Market stores nationwide. Please visit the Find Us page to locate a Sprouts store near you.
You can cook our frozen burritos in the oven or the microwave.
OVEN: First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. While the oven is preheating, remove the plastic overwrap from your burrito and wrap the burrito in foil. Once the oven is warmed, cook the burrito for 50 minutes, flipping halfway through. Once the cooking time is complete, remove from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes before eating.
MICROWAVE: First, remove plastic overwrap from burrito. Then, wrap the burrito in a wet paper towel. Place the burrito on a microwave-safe plate and cook on high for 1:30 min. Remove from the microwave and flip. Cook for an additional 1:30 min. Let the burrito sit for a minute or two before eating.
Cooking times may vary based on altitude or microwave strength.
